Sunset on Lake Wallenpaupack

Big Pocono State Park

Big Pocono State Park is closest to The Swiftwater, while also offering the best panoramic view of the Pocono Mountains. This state park features 1,306 acres of terrain, with 8.6 miles of hiking and walking trails. Taking the Indian Trail, 1.3 miles long, will offer you the easiest access to an incredible viewing point. Once you reach the peak, take in the sights of the mountains surrounding, including portions of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania! This is the ultimate place to watch the sunset in the Poconos.

Lake Wallenpaupack

If you’re visiting the Poconos during the warmer months, we suggest you check out Lake Wallenpaupack! This large man-made lake is the second largest contained completely in Pennsylvania. The lake spans 13 miles, with 52 miles of shoreline. These incredible numbers mean there are a lot of opportunities to see incredible sunsets. Make sure to check out the Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tour’s sunset cruise during the summer!

Hickory Run State Park

Hickory Run State Park sits on almost 16,000 acres of land and features over 40 miles of hiking trails. This state park is also home to a National Natural Landmark, Boulder Field. As its name suggests, this 18-acre area is a field of boulders that was formed during the last ice age. This is an incredible spot to visit any time of day, but the sunsets are particularly beautiful here.

Promised Land State Park

Promised Land State Park is almost 3,000 acres in size, surrounded by an additional over 12,000 acres of the Delaware State Forest. This state park features over 50 miles of trails for hiking trails that lead to waterfalls, plant life, islands, and more. Plus, there are two lakes that provide visitors with almost 600 acres of water and 13 miles of shoreline. Grab your kayak to watch the sunset on the water, or sit and enjoy the cotton candy skies from one of the two sand beaches at Promised Land State Park.

Mount Minsi

Mount Minsi, located on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap, sits at an elevation of over 1,400 feet. Be sure to plan accordingly for this hiking trail, as it is a 5.5 mile round trip. However, the breathtaking views once you reach the peak are worth it! You will be met with the sight of parts of the Pocono Mountains and New Jersey, including the Delaware River and Mount Tammany.

After you take in the unforgettable sights of a Pocono Mountains sunset, head back to The Swiftwater for further relaxation. Grab a drink from Olivet and sit fireside on our garden patio, breathing in the fresh night air with those close to you.
